Anime Origins
Anime-inspired powers for Minecraft: an addon for the Origins mod adding a set of anime-themed origins, built for Fabric and NeoForge (1.21.1).

Overview
Anime Origins is a Minecraft addon for the Origins mod that adds 15 anime-inspired origins, each with its own key-bound abilities, summons and particle effects. Examples include a Ghoul whose kagune is always out, a Solar Titan whose size follows the sun, and a Copy that steals abilities from players and mobs. It targets Fabric 1.21.1, and a separate NeoForge 1.21.1 port runs on Neo Origins.
The problem
I made it for myself and some friends, because I wanted anime-style powers in Origins.
What I did
- Built the 15 origins in Java. Each active power calls a
/aocommand that dispatches to one abilities class and re-checks that the player owns the origin. - Made spell projectiles as real entities with their own renderer and generated glow textures, plus summons such as the Wyrmling.
- Added a client ability panel that lists every ability with its input, cooldown or READY state and toggle status, plus boss-bar meters for heat, blade marks and other resources.
- Generated the origin and power data from a Python script (
tools/gen.py), so the data is reproducible and not hand-edited. - Ported the mod to NeoForge 1.21.1 for Neo Origins, swapping only the platform glue (events, networking and the Origins API) and sharing the ability code.
- Reworked several origins through the November 2026 commits, for example the Ghoul's kagune and lifesteal, the Emberforged's fire healing, and refunds for abilities that fail.
Stack
- Java 21 with Gradle and Fabric Loom
- Fabric Loader and Fabric API on Minecraft 1.21.1
- Origins and Apoli, plus Cardinal Components for per-player data
- NeoForge 21.1 and Neo Origins (the NeoForge port)
- Python generator scripts for data, textures and weapon models
Outcome / impact
- Builds to a jar for both loaders. The Fabric build targets Origins 1.13.x, and the NeoForge build loads on a dev server, which reports all 15 origins.
- Tested headlessly against a dev server. Keybinds, the origin selection screen, the Shapeshifter render and multiplayer are not yet checked in a live client.
- Still in active development: 16 commits to the Fabric repo and 4 to the NeoForge port, all in November 2026.
- It is not published yet. So far it is played by me and a few friends.
