Overview
A modern desktop front end for the lab's records database that lays out its screens from that system's own settings, so the old software can be retired without moving any data. This was built for internal use at a calibration lab, so this page is a summary only.
The problem
The existing commercial records software was ageing, but replacing it would have meant moving all of the data.
What I did
- Reads the lab's records database and builds its screens from that system's own configuration.
- Lets the old client be retired without migrating anything.
- Ships with a sample-data mode so it can be run and demonstrated safely.
Stack
Python (FastAPI), SQL Server and SQLite (sample data), Next.js and React, Electron.
Outcome / impact
Around 80 automated tests, in internal use.
Gallery
Sample-data screenshots with names and figures redacted.
